Visit of the “Cross Hill” in Siauliai where the pilgrims have come to lay their crosses and rosaries since 14th century, as a sign of religious and national identity, in spite of the destruction of this place in numerous opportunities by the foreign occupiers. The number of crucifixes nowadays goes up to more than 50.000, from tiny crosses to the colossal crucifixes devoted to the martyrs or heroes of national independence. This place was visited by pope Jean Paul II in 1993.
