Excursion to Trakai and visit of the Castle. Trakai, located in some kilometres from Vilnius was announced as a national park no only because of the natural beauty of its lakes and forests but also because of the historical importance of that place. It was the seat of the Grand Dukedom of Lithuania and the capital of the country during the middle ages. The imposing castle is a splendid building from 13th century, placed on a small island in the middle of an idyllic lake, the waters of which reflect the silhouette of its high walls in red brick and its slender towers. Around the lake the firs and birch tree forests of the National Trakai park raise.
