Stop in Valka (or Valga in Estonian), historic and picturesque town, which foundation is dated from the 13th century. Here the Latvian flag was hoisted for the first time, during the proclamation of Latvia’s independence in 1917. Valka also has a distinction of being divided between two countries, Estonia and Latvia. In fact, the border runs through the middle of several streets of the town!
